PROpenMic

Initially, I was unfamiliar with PROpenMic until this class. I’m still exploring it, but from what I’m learning it’s a very useful tool to use as a college student and as a recent graduate. PROpenMic’s homepage shows you what the site has to offer right off the bat. From blogging to the latest news, it places information right at your fingertips. I learned that this is a website that is used by many as a way to connect with people. There are lots of people connected already to the website and its a great way for students to connect as well as faculty. PROpenMic is also a great way to ask questions and have them answered by people who know what they are talking about or those who may be going through the same thing.  I also noticed through searching the site there is a place to look for jobs or internships in different places in the PR field.

PROpenMic also has a place for you to post videos and pictures of things you’re doing with PR. It seems like it’s a great way to get people involved and looking at what you are doing. In some cases, it didn’t seem like the pictures were relevent to PR but it is always good to post things about yourself so that people get to know you.

I think the biggest thing I found while on PROpenMic is that it’s just a great tool to use when starting out in PR or a great way to stay up on things as well as making contacts when your feet are already wet. You can find friends and blog about topics; it has almost created a little PR community. By using PROpenMic, students are given the opportunity to further themselves in their careers by making contacts and letting others see what they have to offer.
