Organizational Communication:

  • The process of aligning employees’ “hands, minds, and hearts” with the organization’s reputational interests—as a way to produce competitive advantage.
  • Barriers to alignment include:senior leadership fails to own it,tactical focus of employee communication,lack of role clarity,and noise.
  • There are several smart choices when it comes to alignment which include:bright lines and well-defined boundaries … enforced consistently, practical rules of thumb, realistic, scenario-based discussions,and gap analysis: What we say vs. what we do.
  • Three key forces of change are at the forefront of the evolution: globalization, the digital network revolution, and stakeholder empowerment.
